a photo a day : 6/365 | always open

by Ryan on January 7, 2010

One of the things we’ve been lucky with is that Ella absolutely loves her crate.  She loves her crate so much that she spends many nights in there sleeping when she has the run of the house.  Her crate is also her default behavior when the radio goes on or when I grab my coat, signals to her that she is to head in her crate because we are leaving the house.

Someone told me “Crates are mean for dogs, would you want to be kept in there all day?”

My response is yes.  I wish that I had a place that is so warm, so cosy, so welcoming that I would choose to be in there instead of the outside world.  A place where I could curl up, relax and take a nap and feel as if nothing could harm me and no one could enter that space unless my mom or dad let them.

With her spending her night @ the vet after her surgery, I only felt it fitting to take a picture of her crate, which is empty like my heart tonight, but always open.

her crate is always open

Thanks Christa, I had to get a shot of her crate when she wasn’t in it, because she seems to be in it all the time! It’s her safe haven and it’s strange seeing it empty for so long. Plus, I liked the way the picture came out.
