Do you truly value/appreciate where you live in the world?
We have so many people talking about workshifting and jetsetting and living the untemplate lifestyle, but I find that truly appreciating where you live in this moment is overlooked for the next stop on our world tour.
If you are always looking to the future, you’ll never appreciate where you are in the present.
For me, have the fun of taking a trip is in the journey itself, but I value getting to know the place where I live. Learning the ins and outs, the great places to eat, the best place to have a beer and watch the game, or the 4am late night food staple that keeps us all going after a night on the town.
Being from Buffalo all my life, I rarely give Niagara Falls a second thought, save for when newbie relatives and friends come to visit. I live right by a wonder of the world and yet I’d forget it was there if my parents didn’t live more than 2 minutes away.
For my photo a day 2010 project I headed out to Niagara Falls to reconnect with a place that truly is breathtaking, especially in the winter. My wife Renae accompanied me on the adventure, and we had a beautiful day to snap some shots. With the shot below being my favorite.
How do you make sure you appreciate where you live?
